3rd Annual City Birding Challenge
Saturday, May 10, 2008 (24 Hours)
Birders of all ages and skill levels are invited to join in the fun and challenge of this 24-hour competition. Teams of 2-4 birders each will scour the five boroughs in a race against the clock to see who can identify the most bird species in one day. Bird anywhere you like within New York City, as long as you stay together. For full contest rules, click here. You can even create your own website for the big day! Personalize it with photos, invite your friends to pledge their support, track your fundraising success and share your experience – it's fun and easy. After the Challenge is over, send us a list of the species you saw (you can use our easy NYC-area checklist here) so we can compile all information and declare a winner! The winning team receives the City Birding Challenge Cup, complimentary tickets to NYC Audubon’s Fall Roost Benefit, and other great prizes. The Forgotten Boroughing Owls of Staten Island have won the City Birding Challenge for two years running! Last year they saw 147 species. But they have faced some serious competition in the past. Can you beat their record? Take the challenge! You don't have to be an expert to participate. Register a team today!
