PSF Update - October 30, 2006

Dear PSF Volunteers and friends,

This past week was the busiest week of the fall migration season, with 124 bids found, including 21 injured ones.

The birds were mostly kinglets (23), White-throated Sparrows (23) and Dark-eyed Juncos (9) with an additional 14 species represented as well.

Our total numbers for this season now reach 482 birds, with 76 injuries only (15%).

The graph below shows the top ten species for the season (this is probably going to change…).

The graph below charts collisions by site, and Morgan Mail is still in the lead compared with the other Bird-kill Zones.

The new comer to this week’s tally is the White-throated Sparrow, sadly the number one victim of bird collisions in NYC.

Have a good week,
