Dear PSF friends
and volunteers,
This is the fourth
update from the field, which will go over numbers for this week.
The total number
of birds found so far this season is now 317, with only 45 injured. This past
week alone, 76 birds were collected, 16 of which were injured.
The ratio of dead
and injured birds for this season is as follows:
Dead birds:
85%
Injured birds:
15%
It is interesting
to note that some high collision sites tend to be more deadly than others,
with the World Financial Center being the least deadly, as noticed in other
monitoring seasons. Hopefully, the research we are conducting this year will
help us understand what makes a site deadlier than others.
Below is the fall
tally for our high collision sites:

MET
Morgan Mail
Bellevue Hospital
Jacob Javits Center
