NYC Audubon and Simon Pearce Partner for Birdhouse Fundraising Event

New York City Audubon announces its first annual partnership with Simon Pearce, a Vermont-based designer of hand blown glass and handmade pottery, in a signature birdhouse fundraising event.

The event will take place March 24th through April 20th at Simon Pearce retail stores, where the company will unveil the Simon Pearce Birdhouses created for this special occasion. New York City Audubon will receive 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the birdhouse displayed in the Simon Pearce store located at 500 Park Avenue in New York City, NY.

In addition to donating the proceeds from the sale of the birdhouse, the Simon Pearce New York City store will offer Audubon members a 10% savings on its glass and pottery designs and will donate 10% of the purchase to New York City Audubon. For online shoppers, there will also be an eBay online auction for three birdhouses, with the winning bidders designating the Audubon chapter or state office that will receive the proceeds of their purchase. Each of the Simon Pearce Birdhouses is unique in its design and hand-signed by Simon Pearce. “In keeping with our philosophy of recycling and reuse, and supporting the arts and environmental projects, we have transformed the wooden forms used to create our hand blown glass pieces into ‘found object’ artworks, incorporating birds created by our master glassblowers,” states Liz Ross, Senior Creative Director.

Since inception, Simon Pearce has strived to minimize its impact on the environment. The Simon Pearce Mill in Quechee, Vermont, is the company’s flagship for its retail, restaurant and production activities and is powered by its own hydroelectric site. The company’s most recent addition to eco-friendly efforts is the Vermont restaurant’s conversion of the Executive Chef’s car to run on waste vegetable oil, utilizing the oil generated in the restaurant’s meal preparations.
